OSHA Recordkeeping & Workplace Injury Prevention

Supporting Safer Workplaces Through Proactive Injury Prevention

At ActionOnsite®, we help employers strengthen their workplace injury prevention programs through clinician-led early intervention, ergonomic assessments, and Industrial Athlete education.

Our licensed clinicians work alongside employees and EHS leadership to identify ergonomic risk factors, encourage early discomfort reporting, and provide appropriate first aid consistent with OSHA's recordkeeping definitions.

Through education, documentation, and proactive workplace engagement, we support employers in addressing musculoskele

OSHA's General Duty Clause

Under Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, employers are responsible for providing a workplace free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm.

Ergonomic risk factors such as repetitive movements, forceful exertions, awkward postures, and manual material handling may contribute to workplace musculoskeletal disorders.

How ActionOnsite Supports Workplace Safety

  • Conducting ergonomic assessments using tools such as REBA and RULA

  • Identifying physical risk factors through workstation and task observations

  • Providing practical recommendations to improve work methods

  • Coaching employees on safer lifting, pushing, pulling, and body positioning

  • Encouraging early reporting of discomfort

  • Documenting findings and collaborating with EHS teams on corrective actions

Our goal is to help employers proactively identify and address ergonomic risks while strengthening their overall injury prevention programs.

OSHA First Aid & Early Intervention

Understanding First Aid vs. Medical Treatment

OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1904.7(b)(5) establishes the distinction between first aid and medical treatment for occupational injury and illness recordkeeping.

ActionOnsite® clinicians provide proactive early intervention and appropriate first-aid services while recognizing when additional medical evaluation may be necessary.

Examples of OSHA-Defined First Aid

  • Hot or cold therapy

  • Massage, excluding treatment classified as physical therapy or chiropractic treatment

  • Non-rigid supports such as elastic wraps or bandages

  • Nonprescription medications at nonprescription strength, when appropriate

  • Wound cleaning and basic wound coverings

  • Drinking fluids for relief of heat stress

Our Early Intervention Approach

Our clinicians also provide workplace movement education, ergonomic coaching, symptom follow-up, and employee guidance to encourage early reporting and proactive health management.

When concerns require evaluation or treatment beyond our first-aid services, we follow appropriate referral procedures.

Our commitment is to support employee well-being, appropriate documentation, and responsible workplace injury prevention practices.
